Frequently Asked Questions about Hemp and CBD Oil
What is CBD?
CBD, or Cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive component of the Hemp or Cannabis plant. It acts on cannabinoid receptors on cells all throughout the human body. Most mammals have it, too. Our bodies have two types of receptors for cannabinoids such as CBD. CBD and other hemp phytonutrients offer many benefits.
Is CBD Legal?
CBD is legal in all 50 states and in 40 countries around the world. The FDA considers hemp-based products to be “dietary” products. Cannabis products with under .3% THC are classified as Hemp and are legal for academic and educational purposes. In 2014, the Agricultural Act was signed into law which allows for the cultivation of hemp by state departments of agriculture and universities.
Do I need a medical card?
Because CBD is legal, no medical card is necessary to purchase or consume CBD.
What benefits will I get from CBD?
We encourage our customers to do their own research with regards to CBD and its benefits. There are current scientific studies on the clinical uses of CBD on wide ranges of diseases and disorders.
Will I pass a drug test?
Only the metabolite that THC produces is tested for in a drug test. Full-spectrum CBD oils do contain trace amounts of THC. Large amounts would have to be consumed over a greater period of time in order to approach the limits of the drug tests. We do offer THC free products for those who are concerned about drug testing.
Is CBD safe?
CBD is safe and well-tolerated by humans. Animals can also benefit from CBD. You cannot overdose from CBD and relatively small doses are needed to experience the benefits.
Does CBD interact with other medications?
CBD can inhibit the cytochrome P-450 system’s ability to metabolize certain medications and may lead to an increase in processing times. Within the liver, the cytochrome P-450 system is responsible for metabolizing approximately 90 percent of the drugs that are consumed. We encourage you to consult a physician if you are concerned about an interaction with other medications that you may be taking.
What dose should I take?
We recommend starting with a small CBD dose and increasing until the desired benefit is achieved. We also encourage our customers to do their own research.
Will CBD make me high?
CBD is not psychoactive and will not get you “high.” You may feel more relaxed but your head will remain clear.
